Fitness Class Descriptions
There are lots of different styles of fitness classes. Here are some descriptions of the different kinds of dance and fitness I am teaching – hopefully this will help you pick the best class for your needs.
-
Zumba
“Ditch the Workout, Join the Party!” Zumba is a latin fusion cardio dance class that uses simple, energetic, and fun steps from a variety of styles. In one class, we might zoom through merengue, salsa, cha cha, samba, flamenco, reggeaton, cumbia… But don’t worry if you’re not a dancer, you don’t have to do complicated steps or remember a sequence. Just follow along and rock it out. With the energetic, infetious music you’ll forget you’re getting your cardio and just enjoy the party. -
Cardio Latin / Latin Spice
Want a great cardio workout, some cool steps, and lots of shaking it? These classes cover slightly more complex steps, and we repeat each routine a few times in class so that you get a chance to master it. We do a couple different styles per class (cha cha, samba, etc). A happy balance between constant movement and understanding the steps. -
Hip Hop
This Cardio Hip Hop class that will give you a workout! By repeating individual movements dancers get a chance to practice and work up a sweat. These classes are aimed at new hip hop dancers, but do cover a fair amount of choreography. A more hoppin’ East Cost style keeps the class accessible to both genders. - Bollywood
- Bollywood is a mixture of traditional Indian folk dances, like Bhangra, with contemporary movement from hip hop and jazz dance. This is a great workout and tons of fun. We use music from the latest movies, like Dostana, Jab we Met, and Om Shanti Om. Even if you’ve never danced before you will have a great time with these easy and fun movements.
-
Latin Jazz

Want to bust through some fun and challenging choreography? Get a chance to leap, stretch, kick, and spin? Also want to get that core exercise in with lots of Latin shakin’ and twisting? This class is a powerhouse of dance – we really charge through a lot of steps. The combination of jazz movement improves technique, strength, and stamina, while the Latin movements create character, se
nsuality, and flair.
- Around the World
I have always loved dances from around the world. Finally we have a chance to enjoy them all in one hour! “Zumba” style, we dance through one song from each locale, moving from Samba to Irish Ceili dance to Tango. We come home to America for swing, travel through India for Bollywood dancing, and visit China for traditional ribbon dancing! This is the ultimate in cardio workout and toning!
