Oracle Diwali videos
Yeah! We finally have some videos of the Bollywood dance performances at the Oracle Diwali celebration.
Here’s the video from Desi Girl performance:
and Here’s the video from Marjaani performance:
All Oracle employees and family members are welcome to take Bollywood dance class at Oracle on Fridays at 3 pm, see you then!
Photos from Oracle Diwali
I had a great time watching the Oracle Diwali show, I happened to sit down right next to one of my dancer’s mother, father, and children! It was fun to chat with Vidya’s family while waiting for the show.
I’m amused by the photos that the photographer took of the crowd – you can see just how many people (apparently 1,500?) that packed into the Oracle basketball court / gym to watch the show. Can you find me? My face shows right over the shoulder of Vidya’s father, and it must be later in the show because Surbhi’s sister, Sugeeti, is sitting next to me. She joined us in time to watch her sister dance in the last number of the show, Marjaani. It’s so fun having two sisters in two different classes – and they each got to dance to Marjaani in their own workplace. Small world, eh?
I’m a little easier to find in this photo – although I have a funny look on my face!

These are the six dancers who performed in Desi Girl: Anita, Archana, Sunita, Vidya, Cathy, and Surabhi. Good job ladies!
Thanks again to Vidya for getting such beautiful for sarees for everyone to dance in – and good job to Surbhi and Vidya and Pooma for getting everyone dressed in the sarees. And they all stayed on just fine! Hoorah for safety pins. =)
I was so pleased that this dance was selected to open the show.
I think the audience immediately got excited by the music and started to clap along, and the ladies danced with great enthusiasm and grace. Good job!
Here are the ladies in the middle of Marjaani: Smita, Anita, Surbhi, Cristal, Pooma, Surbhi, Vidya, and Sunita (sorry you got hidden in the back!)
Thank you for such a clean and energetic performance to end the show. You could tell how much the audience appreciated the dancing with all their clapping and shouts – great job!
Looking forward to seeing everyone back in class on Friday at 3 pm.
Discowale Khisko Bollywood Routine
Whew – I didn’t realize these steps were going to be quite so tiring! I’m going to have to come up with some routines that are a little more mellow, eh?
Anyways, from the new movie Dil Bole Hadippa, here are the steps for “Discowale Khisko”:
And here’s the first part with the music:
And make sure to check out the original video, it’s pretty fun, too!
Oracle Diwali Performance
Hi all!
So I’m very excited that we are going to be participating in this year’s Diwali performance.
We will be practicing for on Sundays for the next few weeks, for Desi Girl at 1:30 pm, Marjaani at 3 pm.
Here are a few videos to get you started on the steps:
Desi Girl:
Group 1 Steps:
Group 1 with Music:
Group 2 Steps:
Marjaani Steps:
Marjaani More info on Steps:
Marjaani with Music:
The dance captain for Desi Girl is Vidya Tiru is for Marjaani is Cristal Tsang. They will be contacting you all soon to set up your rehearsals for during the week. I know that many of you are excited to dance in both numbers, but do be aware that there will be lots of rehearsals. If you think you will not be able to go to all the rehearsals, you might want to pick just one dance to perform.
Thank you all for your great energy and fun style, I will see you Friday at 3 pm for class, and review of the steps directly after.
Jab we Met – so cute!
If you haven’t yet seen the movie “Jab we Met” it is absolutely adorable. I guess I should really say that Shahid Kapoor is adorable. I don’t usually fall in love with movie stars, but maybe I should start.
Anyways, this is the closing number to the movie, and a whole lot of fun to dance to:
And here it is with some music, Mauja hi Mauja:
I thought it was kind of awesome that the hero of the movie turns his life around, becomes a superstar business person, and gets the girl all by just being a good guy. Apparently the moral of the story is you don’t have to “strive” to do well in the world, you just have to go with the flow and be totally compassionate, doing the right thing for everyone else – then the right thing will magically happen for you! Not the sort of moral you would normally see in a Hollywood movie – I thought it was great.
Aahun Aahun from Love Aaj Kal
Yes, not one, but two great tunes from the same movie!
This dance is dedicated to the awesome boys of the Bollywood Dance Medley who shuttled me from Crittenden to Building 40 so I could make my hip hop class on time. This song was playing in the car at the time – thanks so much for the rescue guys!
Here are the steps:
And here it is with music:
This is a fun one for singing along, so I’ll see you in class to rock it!
“Twist” from Love Aaj Kal
This latest Bollywood flick, Love Aaj Kul, gets mixed reviews but has a *great* soundtrack.
And it was filmed partially in San Francisco, so that’s always fun to see! I think it might be the Golden Gate bridge on the logo, even?
Anyways, we’ll be dancing to “Twist” – the obvious hit song of the summer, here are the steps:
And here they are with the music:
If you want to watch the movie, it is playing here in the area, check out the showtimes!
Let me know what you think of the movie – I still haven’t seen it!!
Bluffmaster – Boro Boro
By request, we’re doing a Bhangra style dance to “Boro boro” from the Bollywood movie, Bluffmaster.
So get your super cool club style on for these steps:
and here it is with music:
